Here is their current lineup and starting MSRP. Give me a solid set of reasons to buy one over other cars in their respective category.
Lancer: $17,195
Outlander Sport: $19,470
i-Miev: $22,995
Lancer Evolution: $34,995
Mirage: $12,995
Outlander: $22,995

Evo if everyone is sold out of WRX?

The Mirage is the cheapest and most frugal car in the under $15k class. As a matter of fact, what else is there in that range?
And the Evo is as fast as an exotic for the price of a bottom rung executive sedan. For the people that aren't as concerned with practicality and livability, it's the better performance option over the STi.

Evo, because it's still an Evo. Granted, it's tough to say against the new STI (since every review of it has been phenomenal and heralds it as the best WRX to date), but for those guys who don't want the STI the Evo comes in at the same price.

Mirage, the only car I think is worth seriously considering here.
Its cheap, honest, transportation, and there arent too many of those left. Small market, means small amount of competition. Which in other words means its a top choice by default.

The Versa starts at $12,700. Is the Mirage a better car than a Versa?
"For people that aren't as concerned with practicality and livability" ... wouldn't those be major concerns for someone buying a new car?
Edit: the Chevy Spark is also sub-$13,000 starting.

Possibly the Mirage, but I'd rather spend a bit more and get a Mazda 2.

Buying a new Evo because it's an Evo is not a good reason. By most measures, the STi is a better option. The Evo represents a similar choice, but it isn't better.

I-MIEV: If I've completely lost my marbles enough to be buying a compact EV in that price range, I might as well get one over a Leaf or Fit EV because, well, it amuses me more. Being an EV, the more limited dealer coverage of Mitsubishi compared to competitors doesn't matter that much. Lithium batteries, good charging capability, RWD, a control stick to fiddle with the regeneration modes, it's relatively safe, and for all that it's range is not amazing, it's *neat*.

That's probably a good reason. Now if I just knew where to find a Mitsu dealership...

I would consider the Mirage to be better than the Versa. The Mirage gets much better mileage, and isn't that much slower. The Versa's only quality is that it's cheap, as where the Mirage is cheap to buy but brings some value along with it.
And not necessarily. Some people do want a rowdy performance oriented car and aren't concerned about hauling anything but ass. I mean, there's always the Camry V6 XLE if you want the ultimate in 35k plushness.

How does the Outlander compare in price to other mid-size SUVs? I feel like $23k is an extremely competitive price.
Other than the Evo, I see no reason to buy any Mitsubishi. If you want a cheap car, the Spark/Fiesta/Sonic/Fiat 500/Mazda 2 etc all start about that cheap and seem better than the Mirage.

My point was more that the reason most people will use is that it's an Evo and not an STI. While it may not be a decision based in reason or logic, it's a legitimate enough reason for some people.

Well, if your options are a Lancer or a Chevy Spark, the Lancer is the better choice!
That's all I've got.

Mazda CX-5, Forester, Rav4, CR-V and Escape are all very close in price to the Outlander.

I'm the wrong one to answer this question...because I'd buy used.
I have no problem with used cars at 45k and lower miles, to me they just worked out any bugs for me lol.
I couldn't for the life of me justify paying that much money for a Mitsu, even if it means I see 27 miles on the odometer.

If I want to relive the 90s I'll get a Mirage.

Those are all smaller though. The Outlander is closer to the Explorer/Equinox/Sorento size, no?

It's a small SUV.

No, I'm right. The Outlander is about the same size as an Equinox or Sorento, which means it's bigger than the ones you listed. It's about 2 grand less than the Equinox, and...$400 less than the Sorento
So what that means is it's pointless and people should just buy a Sorento.
EDIT: To clarify, I mean interior space. It's kind of in between the Sportage and Sorento in exterior size.

The Equinox is also a small SUV, I think the Sorento is a bit bigger though.

The SUV market confuses me, clearly. I consider the Equinox and Sorento to be 'midsize', whereas the Sportage/CX-5/CR-V are smaller in my mind. I'm clearly wrong though.
I don't understand SUV's...

Outlander Sport.
Its one of the best looking cars in it's class IMO, and it has Mitsu's awesome AWD system. I don't even think the interior is too terrible.

I don't own one, but I wouldn't complain if I did!
Theoretically, if I did own one, it would be Labrador Black.

Ironically, there happens to be a Mitsubishi dealership right across from the Subaru dealership I'm employed at.

The only car from these that interests me even slightly is the Evo... but I would much rather have an evo V or VI or anything before the evo X...
